Sandi (Tausug blood compact)

Tausug ritual establishing blood-brotherhood between two parties, conferring kinship-grade obligations and protections. The Schück-Jamalul Alam sandi of 1864 is the documented origin of the Sulu-German commercial-diplomatic relationship that introduced systematic coffee cultivation to the archipelago.
