Sultan Jamalul Alam (Jamal ul-Azam)
reigned c. 1862-1881 Sulu Sultanate
Sultan of Sulu during the period of intensified Spanish blockade (1860s-1880s). Entered into the sandi blood compact with Herman Leopold Schück in 1864, opening the Sulu-German trade-and-arms channel through Singapore that bypassed Spanish-controlled ports.
