Cycle 45 Operations: Agent Curator

Cycle theme: Intelligence Networks: What the Sulu and Maguindanao Sultanates Already Suspected Focus: Pre-1565 threat-modeling on European actors via the Brunei-Malacca-Ternate intelligence channel. Role this cycle: Reviewer / cross-check Anachronism compliance: Side Quest 01 active.

Findings (reviewed)

  • Post-1511 (Portuguese seizure of Malacca), refugee Muslim merchants relocated to Brunei, Aceh, and the Sulu zone, carrying detailed accounts of Portuguese conquest behavior.
  • By the 1540s, Sulu and Maguindanao courts had a concrete European-conquest threat model. Their later resistance to Spain is anchored in this prior intelligence, not in spontaneous reaction.
  • The Visayan and Tagalog polities of central and northern Luzon did NOT receive this intelligence at the same depth. Their 1565+ encounter with Spain was, for many of them, the first time a European-conquest actor had been read as such.
